Personalized, one-on-one training designed to help you become a confident, capable pilot—at your pace.

Start Here!

No matter what your aviation goals are, here’s what you can expect flying with Shawn:

  • Personalized, one-on-one flight instruction that makes sense for how you learn.

  • Flexible scheduling that works with you, not against you.

  • Flight instruction in a well-maintained Cessna 172 with state of the art equipment and avionics.

  • Focused and intentional instruction. Because we’re not a pilot school focused on quantity, I can cater each lesson to the individual learner and their needs.

  • Instruction designed to not just help you pass the test, but to truly deepen your understanding and skills in order to be the safest and most proficient pilot you can be.

On This Page You’ll Find both typical Flight Training Options as well as other training that I offer.

Flight Training Options

Small white aircraft flying low over grassy terrain with a pilot waving from the cockpit.

Sport Pilot License

A low-cost entry into the world of aviation! While a Sport Pilot does not have all the same privileges as a Private Pilot, this is a great option for someone interested in flying smaller aircraft locally for the pure enjoyment of flight.

Sport Pilot License requires 20 flight hours, 15 of which much be training with an instructor.

Private Pilot License

The most common starting point for becoming a pilot. A Private Pilot License gives you the freedom to fly passengers, travel, and truly experience aviation on your terms. It’s the foundation for all future ratings and the gateway to becoming a confident, capable pilot.

Private Pilot License requires 40 flight hours, 20 of which must be training with an instructor.

Commercial Pilot License

Take your flying to the next level on your way to the airlines. Commercial training focuses on precision, consistency, and professionalism—helping you master the aircraft and operate at a higher standard. Whether you’re pursuing aviation further or simply want to sharpen your skills, this is where flying becomes refined.

Commercial Pilot License requires 250 flight hours.

Other Training Options

Here are other forms of training that I offer to help you in your aviation goals:

  • Flight Reviews: Maintain or regain your pilot currency with a flight review consisting of 1 hour of ground and 1 hour of flight training.

  • Ground Instruction: Whether it’s for initial knowledge training or to deepen you knowledge in a specific area, I offer one-on-one ground instruction tailored to the way you learn.

  • Currency Flights: If having a skilled CFI in the airplane gives you peace of mind while you perform your PIC currency flights, I am happy to assist.

  • Proficiency Training: Are you already a pilot but want to hone your skills in a specific area? I can help!

  • Mock Checkrides: Are you training for a checkride? Do a mock checkride (oral or practical) with me to get an unbiased perspective on how prepared you are to meet the ACS requirements.
